The little girl’s anxiety was high because it was her first
night in her own room after the lightning strike that blew a hole in their
house. Her parents were fighting and it seemed like they were never happy. She
felt like it was her fault that they never got along. Her father constantly
defended her and her mother always yelled at her and made her feel small. They
thought just because she was in bed and supposed to be asleep that she couldn’t
hear them but that wasn’t a bit true. Her mother ranted on about all the things
she had done wrong that day and told her father that she never listened. The
little girl knew that her mother gave her too many directions at once and that
she couldn’t remember all of them after all she was only 4. All she wanted was
to be happy and for them to love her, but sometimes the fighting was so bad that
she was terrified and hid under the covers in her room. This night was one of
those nights. When she peeked out during a fight she saw a white figure
standing at the foot of her bed. The figure did not move but simply stood and
watched her. She hid under the covers again because the screaming got worse.
Finally after the fighting subsided and she fell asleep wondering about the
figure she had seen. The next day she told her mother about seeing the figure
and her mother told her she was imagining things and that it wasn’t real. She
never saw the others again for years and years.
